The result of a 25 year collaboration between Joe Gibson, chemical engineer and tanner, and Richard Bass, master mechanical engineer and inventor. It allows, for the first time, individual identification of hides, skins and splits at all stages of the leather supply chain, from on-farm to finished leather.

It is Fast!

The cutters go right through.

It even identifies the drop split.

Gibson bass stamper design

Seamlessly prove provenance from the source to the customer

The Gibson Bass Stamper is a crucial part of any leather traceability system providing individual identification of hides, skins, and splits at all stages of the leather supply chain, from on-farm to finished product.

Using hydraulically powered technology the Gibson Bass Stamper has a cycle time of around 1 second per stamp producing a stamp that cuts right through the grain and the drop split.
This creates a mark that is human readable on the grain and the drop split from raw state to wet blue and beyond – the only hide stamper on the market that can do this.
Each Gibson Bass Stamper is made to meet customer specifications, enabling it to be seamlessly integrated into company traceability systems.

The stamper has worked very well these six years …… We have used the hexadecimal code to trace hides back to the farmers (and) the main benefit for us have been to prove the origin of the hides, i.e. KHI hides which the stamp ensures!
