THE GIBSON
BASS STAMPER

The stamper is CE Certified, every machine is manufactured to order to meet individual customer specifications each one comprises three main components: the stamping head, the control box and the hydraulic power pack.

The Stamper design

We work closely with all our customers to minimise the number of digits required, as this also minimises capital cost. We also advise on how and where to position the Gibson Bass Stamper to minimise the labour input, in turn, minimising the running cost.

We can often install and operate the stamper without adding any extra labour. For example, at one site, the stamper was on a trimming conveyor after fleshing. We linked the stamper PLC into the conveyor to pause the conveyor while stamping to give the operator time to trim the hide as the stamp was taking place.

There are 3 components

Stamper Head

The stamper head is the heart of the machine. It comprises as many digits as you want (generally from 4 to 7, but we have done a nine-digit stamper). Each digit has seven independent hydraulic lines, each line serving one piston, which serves one cutter.

Control  Box

Control box of the hide stamper
The control box contains the hydraulic valves, the PLC, and other electronic components. As a safety feature, the control box contains only 24VAC and 24VDC, and there is no electricity at the stamping head.

Hydraulic Power Pack

The hydraulic power pack has a 3-phase motor that provides up to 2000 psi (nearly 14,000 kPa), which results in each of the seven cutters having the equivalent of a 40kg weight on it. The stamper is completely safe.

Innovative Features

Innovation is the cornerstone of our customers’ success.  Since manufacturing commenced in 2001, many improvements and innovations have been made to the Gibson Bass Hide Stamper, driven by our customer needs.

Orientation

Do you want the number to be facing the edge of the hide, or do you want it facing away from the edge?

Restamp

In individual traceability, the integrity of the stamp is critical.

Skip one

The philosophy behind individual traceability is that every hide must have a number, and every number must have a hide.

Dual mode

If you are stamping hides destined for the shoe trade, some customers may want a stamp on each side.

Different Species

The Gibson Bass Stamper will stamp anything within reason. Some customers identify goat and sheep as well as cattle.

Remote Access

Recently we have added the option of including a remote access modem.

Knife for hanging hole

When hides are hung on a hook on a chain, a hole is needed. We can make that hole simultaneously with a stamp being made by including a knife as an ‘extra digit’.

Rotating Head

When the stamper is installed on a kill floor or beside a moving chain, we recommend you consider our new “Rotating Head’ option.

Open Jaw Stamper

This is our biggest innovation since the invention of the stamper some 20 years ago.

If you have a particular need and you can’t see something that meets it here please don’t hesitate to contact us. We have the ability and manufacturing capabilities to modify or create new features to suit.
